The special luminosity of Morestel's country attracted famous painters of the 19th century such as Ravier, Corot, Daubigny, Harpignies and others.

Inspired by the diaphanous light bathing the lanscape, nearby the romantic steam of the Rhône and lakes, Ravier walked through the countryside to capture all the subtleties of the nature's colors in an harmonious and constrated palette, admiring the Turner's works.

Lanscape become with Ravier, after the romantic movement and the Barbizon' school, the only subject in his pictural search.
